Ingredients
Scale
- 14 cups cubed bread
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 3 cups diced onion
- 2 cups diced celery
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 ½ tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. black pepper
- 1 Tbsp. poultry seasoning
- 2 tsp. fresh rosemary, minced
- 2 tsp. fresh sage, minced
- 1 Tbsp. fresh thyme
- ¼ cup fresh parsley
- 2 ½ – 3 ½ cups chicken or turkey broth
- 2 large eggs, beaten
Instructions
- Begin the prep a day ahead by cutting the bread into cubes.
- For Method One, lay the bread on sheet pans and let it dry overnight, ensuring not to overcrowd the pans.
- For Method Two, preheat the oven to 275°F. Spread the bread on sheet pans in a single layer and bake for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, to ensure even drying without toasting.
- Once dried, either use the bread immediately or store it in an airtight container until ready to make the stuffing.
Notes
Choose your favorite bread for added flavor.
Customize the herbs to your taste.
Mix the stuffing well before placing it in the slow cooker for even flavor distribution.
