Ingredients
- 3 pounds apples honeycrisp, gala, fuji, or a mix, peeled and sliced
- ¼ cup apple juice
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- pinch of salt
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon tapioca flour or cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water
Instructions
- Place the sliced apples into the slow cooker.
- Add the apple juice and sprinkle the maple syrup, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt over the apples. Stir gently to coat the apples.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 3-4 hours or on high for 1½-2 hours until apples are tender yet maintain their shape.
- If possible, stir the apples halfway through the cooking time.
- After cooking, add the vanilla and tapioca slurry, stirring well and heat for an additional 5-10 minutes.
- Serve warm or allow to cool before storing in the fridge or freezer.
Notes
Mix different types of apples for a more complex flavor.
You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less maple syrup based on your preference.
These apples can be served with ice cream for a delicious dessert.
