Treat yourself to Slow Cooker Beer and Garlic Brats, featuring delicious brats simmered in beer with garlic and onions. This simple, hearty meal is perfect for gatherings or a cozy dinner at home.

  • Total Time: 6 hours 10 minutes
  • Yield: 10 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 38 oz. brats, (two 19 oz. packages)
  • 1 large white onion, sliced and divided
  • 10 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 12 oz. bottle beer, (I used Coors banquet)

Instructions

  1. Place half of the sliced onion at the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. Layer the brats in two layers on top of the onions.
  3. Add the remaining onions, garlic cloves, and black pepper. Then place the butter on top.
  4. Pour the beer evenly over the ingredients in the slow cooker.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours, ensuring the lid remains closed throughout the cooking time.
  6. Once cooked, serve the brats, garlic, and onions in buns with your preferred toppings.

Notes

Feel free to adjust the amount of garlic to your preference.
Serve with sauerkraut or mustard for an extra kick.
These brats also pair well with a side of potato salad.
