No reviews

This homemade yogurt made in the slow cooker is a breeze to prepare. With simple ingredients like whole milk and yogurt, you can enjoy a delicious and healthy treat perfect for breakfast or snacks.

  • Total Time: 5 hours 5 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 64 ounces whole milk
  • 4 ounces plain whole milk yogurt

Instructions

  1. Pour the milk into the slow cooker and set it on low heat until it reaches 180 ℉, which takes about 2-3 hours.
  2. Once the milk reaches the desired temperature, turn off and unplug the slow cooker. Allow the milk to cool down to 110 ℉, approximately another 2-3 hours.
  3. Take out ½ cup of the milk and whisk it with the yogurt until smooth. Gradually stir this mixture back into the milk in the slow cooker, ensuring it is well combined.
  4. Keep the slow cooker unplugged and cover it with a towel. Let it sit for 10-12 hours so the yogurt can set.
  5. Stir the yogurt until smooth and transfer it into individual dishes or a single large container. Place it in the refrigerator.

Notes

Use a thermometer to ensure accurate temperatures for best results.
For thicker yogurt, strain it through a cheesecloth after it sets.
Feel free to add flavors or sweeteners before refrigerating.
