Ingredients
Scale
- 64 ounces whole milk
- 4 ounces plain whole milk yogurt
Instructions
- Pour the milk into the slow cooker and set it on low heat until it reaches 180 ℉, which takes about 2-3 hours.
- Once the milk reaches the desired temperature, turn off and unplug the slow cooker. Allow the milk to cool down to 110 ℉, approximately another 2-3 hours.
- Take out ½ cup of the milk and whisk it with the yogurt until smooth. Gradually stir this mixture back into the milk in the slow cooker, ensuring it is well combined.
- Keep the slow cooker unplugged and cover it with a towel. Let it sit for 10-12 hours so the yogurt can set.
- Stir the yogurt until smooth and transfer it into individual dishes or a single large container. Place it in the refrigerator.
Notes
Use a thermometer to ensure accurate temperatures for best results.
For thicker yogurt, strain it through a cheesecloth after it sets.
Feel free to add flavors or sweeteners before refrigerating.
