Ingredients
Scale
- 6 tablespoons (84g) unsalted butter, sliced
- 1 cup (200g) packed brown sugar
- ½ cup (118ml) heavy whipping cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, or vanilla bean paste
- ½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the brown sugar and heavy whipping cream. Stir until the mixture boils.
- Once at a full boil, let the mixture sit undisturbed for 3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla and salt.
- Transfer the sauce to a jar and allow to cool before covering it.
- The sauce will thicken as it cools; if refrigerated, it will become a soft solid. Reheat in the microwave for about 30 seconds, stir, and use as desired.
Notes
Store the sauce in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
To achieve desired thickness, adjust cooking times or refrigeration.
