  • Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 apples, peeled & diced
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 12 tbsp water
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tbsp apple juice
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla
  • 2 (16 oz) cans pillsbury grands buttermilk biscuits
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Generously cover the inside of a Bundt pan with non-stick spray.
  2. Peel, core, and dice the apples. Toss them with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
  3. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add apples and cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are tender and the liquid is gone. If apples seem dry, add 1 tbsp of water to help them soften. Cool slightly.
  4. Place half of the caramelized apples in the bottom of the pan.
  5. Cut each biscuit into quarters.
  6. In a gallon Ziplock bag, add sugar and cinnamon, then shake to mix.
  7. Put half the quartered biscuits into the cinnamon sugar mixture. Shake to coat, then distribute evenly into the prepared pan.
  8. Place the other half of the caramelized apples on top of the biscuits.
  9. Coat the remaining quartered biscuits and place them in the pan.
  10. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine brown sugar and melted butter. Stir until well combined and pour evenly over the biscuits.
  11. Bake for 30 minutes.
  12. Remove from the oven and let sit for a few minutes before inverting onto a dinner plate.
  13. To make the icing, whisk together powdered sugar, apple juice, and vanilla, then drizzle over the slightly cooled monkey bread.

Notes

For best flavor, use a variety of apples such as Granny Smith and Honeycrisp.
Ensure that the biscuits are coated well in the cinnamon sugar for extra flavor.
Serve warm for the best taste experience.
