Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz. bacon (sliced before cooking)
- 2–3 lb. bone-in skin-on chicken thighs (5–6 chicken thighs)
- 40 cloves garlic (these can range in size! I buy pre-peeled garlic cloves for this)
- ½ tsp. salt
- ¼ tsp. pepper
- .87 oz. chicken gravy packet ((I use McCormick))
- ½ cup water ((this is all you need for the recipe))
- ½ tsp. dried thyme
Instructions
- Set a large skillet to medium-high heat and add the sliced bacon. Cook until crisp, then remove and drain on paper towels, leaving about 2 tablespoons of bacon grease in the pan.
- Sprinkle the chicken thighs with salt and pepper, then add them to the skillet. Brown the chicken on both sides.
- Transfer the browned chicken to the slow cooker.
- Sprinkle the cooked bacon, thyme, and garlic cloves over the chicken.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the chicken gravy mix and ½ cup of water. Pour this mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker.
- Cook on LOW for 5-6 hours, or until the chicken is tender.
Notes
Using pre-peeled garlic cloves saves time and effort.
For extra flavor, add herbs like rosemary or parsley when cooking.
Serve with crusty bread to enjoy the delicious sauce.
