Ingredients

  • 8 oz. bacon (sliced before cooking)
  • 23 lb. bone-in skin-on chicken thighs (56 chicken thighs)
  • 40 cloves garlic (these can range in size! I buy pre-peeled garlic cloves for this)
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. pepper
  • .87 oz. chicken gravy packet ((I use McCormick))
  • ½ cup water ((this is all you need for the recipe))
  • ½ tsp. dried thyme

Instructions

  1. Set a large skillet to medium-high heat and add the sliced bacon. Cook until crisp, then remove and drain on paper towels, leaving about 2 tablespoons of bacon grease in the pan.
  2. Sprinkle the chicken thighs with salt and pepper, then add them to the skillet. Brown the chicken on both sides.
  3. Transfer the browned chicken to the slow cooker.
  4. Sprinkle the cooked bacon, thyme, and garlic cloves over the chicken.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the chicken gravy mix and ½ cup of water. Pour this mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker.
  6. Cook on LOW for 5-6 hours, or until the chicken is tender.

Notes

Using pre-peeled garlic cloves saves time and effort.
For extra flavor, add herbs like rosemary or parsley when cooking.
Serve with crusty bread to enjoy the delicious sauce.
